All you need to know about responsible parties

A Responsible Party can be a close relative. A Responsible Party does not need to submit a separate application with TheGuarantors.

You may be prompted on our questionnaire to provide a Responsible Party.

What is a Responsible Party?

A Responsible Party can be a close relative, such as a parent or sibling. It is not required to process your application.

Do I need to provide a Responsible Party?

We encourage applicants to provide a Responsible Party; however, it is not required to provide one with your application.

Does my Responsible Party need to provide any documents?

Generally, we do not ask Responsible Parties to provide any documents.

In rare cases, we may request them to provide a copy of a government-issued photo ID or proof of income/assets.  Our team will contact you via email if any additional documents are required from you or your Responsible Party.

Does my Responsible Party need to submit a separate application with TheGuarantors?

No, only leaseholders need to apply with TheGuarantors.

If your Responsible Party is also a co-leaseholder, please add them to your application as a roommate instead.

Will providing a Responsible Party reduce my premium amount?

In the vast majority of cases, providing a Responsible Party will not affect your invoice or premium amount. We will contact you directly if providing a Responsible Party could help to reduce your premium.
