Does my roommate need to submit an application?
Our Rent and Deposit Coverage applies to the entire lease, so each of your roommates will need to submit an application if their name is listed on the lease.
If your roommate will be an occupant but not a leaseholder, they do not need to apply for coverage. We only require applications from leaseholders.
How can my roommate apply?
Once you submit your application, any roommates you included in the questionnaire will be emailed an invitation to apply. Please make sure that you type your co-leaseholder’s email address correctly and that this is the email address your co-leaseholder will use for their application.
If your roommate did not receive an invite, they can submit an application directly from our website at https://www.theguarantors.com/renter. Remember, if your roommate will be an occupant but not a leaseholder, they do not need to apply for coverage. We only require applications from leaseholders.
If I already submitted my application, how do I add or change my roommate?
Please contact our support team by texting SUPPORT to +1 929-556-6810*. Then, type "Update leaseholders."
What information does my roommate need to submit in their application?
Each roommate listed on the lease also needs to complete our short application and provide a copy of a government-issued photo ID. Only then will our team be able to review your application.

My application was approved. How can I split the premium with my roommates?
There is only one invoice per policy and lease, so you’ll need to determine how you would like to split the invoice amount amongst yourselves.
Once you have decided the amount that each roommate will pay, you can customize your payment amount by selecting “Other amount” on the invoice and typing in the desired amount you would like to contribute.
