What happens to my coverage if I decide to move units before my lease ends?

Your policy with TheGuarantors must be updated with your new lease details if you transfer to a new unit, even if you are transferring units in the same building.

Your policy with TheGuarantors must be updated with your new lease details if you transfer to a new unit, even if you are transferring units in the same building.

Please email the details of your lease change to underwriting@theguarantors.com so we can begin processing your policy change:

    • Building address:

    • Unit number:

    • Rent amount:

    • Leaseholder name(s) (if applicable):

    • Leaseholder email address(es) (if applicable):

    • Lease start date:

    • If you are staying in the same building, has your landlord approved the lease transfer?

    • If you are moving to a new building, has your current landlord approved the lease break?

    • Will you require Rent or Deposit Coverage for the new lease?

Note that we are unable to process any updates to your policy if you owe a balance to your current landlord. Please ensure that you are in good standing with your building prior to updating your policy with TheGuarantors.

If you will require coverage for the new lease, our team will review your application once the above information is provided. Please note that approval for the policy change is not guaranteed, as all leaseholders must be approved for the policy based on the updated lease details.

I will need coverage for my new lease. Will I need to pay any additional premium to update my policy?

Depending on your new lease details and any updates to your personal information, you may need to pay additional premium in order to update your policy.

If additional premium is required, we may be able to offer you a partial credit toward your new policy premium. Please email underwriting@theguarantors.com with the details listed in the above section to receive a quote for the new policy.

If I don’t need coverage for my new lease, will I receive a refund for the policy premium?

You will not receive a refund if you move to a new unit before your lease ends. Once you have taken possession of the unit, we are unable to refund your policy premium.

You can read more about our cancellation and refund policy here.

However, if you will require Rent Coverage to qualify for the new unit or would like to purchase Deposit Coverage, we may be able to offer you a partial credit toward your new policy premium. Please email underwriting@theguarantors.com with the details listed in the above section to receive a quote for the new policy.
