If there is a change to your lease after you have signed and paid for your Rent or Deposit Coverage, we will need to update your policy.
If there is a change to your lease after you have signed and paid for your Rent or Deposit Coverage, we will need to amend your policy.
If you have not yet signed and paid for your policy and have a question on how to edit your application or lease details, see How can I edit my application? to learn more.
Why does the policy need to be amended:
Because the information on the Rent or Deposit Coverage policy and the lease need to match, the policy also needs to be updated if there is a significant change to the lease terms or leaseholders. If there is a change in the leaseholders, the unit number, or the gross rent, or if there is a significant change in the lease dates*, please let us know so we can update the policy.
*Note: If the lease dates shift by 15 or fewer days, the lease rental bond does NOT need to be amended because the language on the lease rental bond accounts for minor lease date adjustments.
How to notify us about lease amendments:
All lease changes need to be confirmed by your landlord, leasing agent, or property manager.
If you need the policy updated, please confirm your lease changes with your landlord first and then have your landlord email us to notify us of the changes that are needed.
Possible effects of modifying lease rental bond:
- All leaseholders will need to be approved for the amended coverage
- If changing leaseholders, all leaseholders will need to sign a new contract
- If a change results in the premium increasing, the renter will need to pay the difference
